Customers from the EU and US

At this time, we are unable to ship orders to the European Union or the United States.

European Union (EU)
The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) came into force on 13th December 2024. Amongst other requirements, this regulation mandates that any business selling products into the EU must appoint an official “Responsible Person” within the EU to handle product documentation, compliance, and liaison with regulatory authorities. As a small business, hiring and maintaining such representation is not financially viable. Until this requirement becomes more accessible or changes, we are, regrettably, unable to ship to customers in the EU.

United States (US)
Recent changes to US import law mean that all international parcels are now subject to mandatory customs duties and fees, even for low-value items that were previously duty-free under the de minimis exemption.

Because I ship using Royal Mail, parcels to the US are handled via the international postal system (Royal Mail → USPS). Under the new rules, US Customs applies a flat fee per item for the first six months after August 29, 2025:

  • US $80 per item if the tariff rate is below 16% (this applies to most precious metal jewellery such as gold and silver rings, necklaces, and earrings).

  • US $160–200 per item for higher-tariff categories.

Even a small piece of second-hand jewellery that would normally only attract a few dollars in duty now faces a minimum $80 charge per item when shipped by post.

The only exception is for genuine antiques over 100 years old, which are technically classed as duty-free under US tariff rules. However, it is unclear whether the new flat postal fees will still be applied regardless.

After this six-month transitional period, the flat fees will end and all shipments will instead be charged ad valorem duties — meaning a percentage of the item’s value, with no de minimis threshold. This still makes small, lower-value orders uneconomical, as every single parcel will attract duties at the full tariff rate.

What this means for you as a customer
Sadly, this makes it unaffordable to ship jewellery orders to the US, since the duty owed at customs could exceed the value of the item itself. To avoid surprise charges, delays, or orders being held at customs, I have taken the decision to pause all US shipping until the rules become clearer.

We truly value the support and interest from customers worldwide and hope to review these restrictions in the future as regulations and costs evolve.

Thank you for your understanding.
