Collection: Birmingham

Established in 1773 during the Industrial Revolution, the Birmingham Assay Office was created to serve the rapidly growing jewellery industry in the city's famous Jewellery Quarter. Its distinctive anchor town mark is said to have been chosen after a meeting at London's historic Crown and Anchor tavern, with Birmingham taking the anchor while Sheffield adopted the crown. Today, Birmingham hallmarks are among the most commonly found on vintage gold and silver jewellery, reflecting the city's long tradition of exceptional craftsmanship.
