A handsome Victorian silver fob medal, hallmarked for Birmingham 1900. The front features an unengraved shield plaque mounted on an ornate medal.
These medals were once proudly worn on watch chains, often presented as prizes in local sporting or social clubs. Around the turn of the century, they became tokens of achievement and community pride — miniature works of art celebrating everyday triumphs.
As well as the hallmarks, the reverse is stamped with a Registered Design number 224921. This design was registered in 1894 by William Rabone Haseler and Frank Haseler, trading as C E Solomon and Company, Jewellers, of 8 Hylton Street, Birmingham. The maker's mark is 'WHH' which was used by William Hair Haseler until 1910 at which the mark was changed.
Weight: 9.2g
Measurements: 1.6' length, including hanging loop
