A striking vintage silver fob medal hallmarked for Birmingham 1939, and made by William James Dingley — one of the best-known names in early 20th Century medal and insignia design. The piece has a crisp, geometric outline with a soft touch of scrollwork at the top, capturing that later-Art Deco feel where bold symmetry meets a touch of earlier ornament.
The small shield at the base is finished in silver gilt, providing a subtle contrast to the polished silver body. This area was often used for engraving but remains blank, giving it a clean, understated look.
Dingley’s workshop continued to produce high-quality medals into the late 1930s, before later being absorbed by Toye, Kenning & Spencer — and this piece sits right at the end of that era. A fine example of inter-war craftsmanship with both style and history.
