A beautiful vintage sterling silver pendant by David Scott Walker, fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1978 and featuring two beautifully contrasting gemstones: golden tiger eye and rich green malachite.
The pendant has a double-sided design, with a square panel of polished tiger eye on one face and a domed panel of malachite on the reverse. Both stones are framed in polished sterling silver, with a sculptural suspension formed from angled silver bars and linked fittings. The pendant is finished with an upper loop, creating a distinctive geometric design with a strong 1970s Modernist character.
Although the pendant does not spin, its double-sided construction allows either gemstone to be displayed, offering two quite different appearances in one piece.
Tiger eye has traditionally been associated with courage, confidence and protection, while malachite has a long history as an ornamental stone and has been associated with transformation and renewal. Their contrasting colours and natural patterns make this a particularly attractive pairing.
