Large silver and black onyx pendant

A large sterling silver pendant set with an oval black onyx cabochon within a broad and sculptural mount.

The stone is smoothly polished and domed, with a deep, opaque black surface that reflects light softly across its curved form. It is framed by a wide silver setting with a subtle stepped edge and a lightly textured border. The reverse is open-backed.

Onyx has long been associated with protection and grounding. In jewellery, it is often used as a stabilising stone, thought to absorb negative energy and provide a sense of strength and composure.

The pendant is fitted with a substantial bail, suitable for a range of chain thicknesses.
