Mexican sterling silver abstract ring, size R.5 (US 9), hallmarked Edinburgh Import 1995

A sterling silver ring set with an oval cabochon blue stone and decorated with cut-out geometric motifs.

The band is wide with a jagged, organic edge that gives the piece a hand-worked, expressive quality. Across the surface, a series of pierced designs — including crosses, stepped lines and triangular forms. The central setting holds a smooth oval blue stone in a simple bezel, providing a focal point against the textured and patterned surround.

The ring is marked TC-49 Mexico 925. 'T' means the ring was made in Taxco (Mexico), 'C' is the first initial of of the silversmith's last name, and '49' is the silversmith's registration number under the initial C in Taxco. In addition, the ring carries British import hallmarks for Edinburgh, dated 1995.
