A sterling silver ring by Running Bear Trading, set with coral and turquoise in a raised, sculptural arrangement.
The form is composed of four round cabochons—two vivid red coral and two bright turquoise—set in serrated bezels and arranged vertically across the face. These are framed by applied silver elements, including stylised leaves, small bead details, and two floral motifs at the centre.
The ring is stamped ‘R.B.’ for Running Bear Trading, a family-run business based in Gallup, New Mexico, known for producing jewellery inspired by Native American design traditions. Pieces such as this often draw on established Southwestern forms, combining natural materials with decorative silverwork.
Coral and turquoise are both materials long associated with protection in jewellery traditions. Turquoise, in particular, has a deep history in Native American adornment, where it has been valued as a stone connected to sky, water, and protection. Coral, with its organic origin and saturated colour, has similarly been used across cultures as a material linked to vitality and safeguarding.
