Sea glass & cowrie shell pendant by Smugglers Treasures, hallmarked Sheffield

A sterling silver pendant by Smugglers Treasures of Whitby, set with a naturally weathered piece of green sea glass and a polished cowrie shell.

The design combines two objects closely associated with the shoreline. The cowrie shell is framed within an elongated silver setting above a triangular fragment of soft green sea glass. Cowrie shells have been used throughout history as objects of trade, ornament and symbolism, while sea glass is formed through years of movement in the sea, its surface gradually smoothed and frosted by the action of water and sand.

The reverse is engraved with a flowing wave-like pattern and carries full Sheffield hallmarking.
