Silver and turquoise pendant

A substantial Southwestern style sterling silver pendant set with a large oval turquoise cabochon, displaying a distinctive matrix pattern across the surface. The turquoise is bezel-set within a wide silver mount, bordered by a band of applied silver detailing. A twisted rope edge runs along the lower edge of the setting, adding depth and contrast to the otherwise smooth, domed surface of the stone.

Turquoise has been used in jewellery for thousands of years, particularly across Persia, Egypt and the American Southwest. Traditionally associated with protection and travel, it has often been worn as a talisman stone and is also recognised as a birthstone for December.
