Square black rutile quartz pendant

A sterling silver pendant set with a square rutile quartz cabochon.

The black inclusions are characteristic of rutilated quartz, where mineral growth occurs within the quartz during its formation. The contrast between the clear ground and the dark inclusions gives the stone a graphic, almost drawn quality. The setting is a simple silver frame with a broad border and a plain, tapering bail.
