Vintage silver & black onyx necklace, Birmingham import hallmarks

A vintage sterling silver statement necklace featuring a large polished black onyx cabochon, framed by an articulated sculptural collar.

The necklace is formed from four silver panels, linked together to allow movement. The panels curve elegantly around the neckline before meeting at the centre, where an oval black onyx pendant is suspended. 

Onyx has been used in jewellery since antiquity, appearing in carved seals, cameos and amulets across numerous cultures. Over time it has become associated with protection, strength and grounding.

Fully hallmarked with import marks for Birmingham. Additional stamps of '925' on individual sections.
